America: A Christian Nation

Bruce Anderson

The United States of America was built upon three fundamental documents: the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These founding documents are based upon GOD and the Bible. [More]

Glory Days
December 7, 2009
By Dan Carter

I've found that every day is a new day of discovery when you are a person with Parkinson's. The little "curve balls" of life that you once easily sent over the wall with the "bat" of education and experience seem to come at you with increased velocity and more curves as they approach. Our "bat" seems like a broomstick in our hands, whittled down by the effects of Parkinson's on our minds. [More]

My Best Christmas Ever
December 20, 2008
By Dan Carter

Someone at Sierra Pines Church recently asked me if I could remember my favorite Christmas. We were in the church auditorium preparing for the Sierra Pines Church Choir presentation. [More]

Dealing With The What If's
October 29, 2008
Deanna Burris

As sadness enters the heart of many so does the thought of what if's...

What if that had been my child?

What if that had been my friend?

What if I had said the right thing? [More]

Miniature Pony Receives Blessing from Above
October 29, 2008
Jennifer Currie

I have always had a heart for animals.  In fact, from a very young age I thought about devoting my time to becoming a veterinarian.  However, God has shown me how I may help animals without having professional letters behind my name to delineate my qualifications.  I have found that having a willingness to share my desires with Him, the Creator of All, is all I need. [More]

Travels with Fred
October 29, 2008
Don Lawrence

I have been a lazy, good for nuthin’ worn out cyclist these past two weeks!  Reason?  I do not know?  I just know that a number of you have written asking “What happened?  Where ya’ at?” Well, I am home, sittin’ down, reviewing a book that I need to finish for classes, designing a few new power points, having a restful ‘catch-up’ time with Joyce and just veggin’ in front of the TV, a week later missing the excitement of the Olympics!  [More]

To Eternity and Beyond
October 28, 2008
Dan Carter

I can't recall anytime in my 57-year life when the sense of God's Holy Spirit moving about has been stronger. Young and old alike are encountering challenges in all areas of life here on earth. In spite of all human efforts to avert disasters, things still seem to be falling apart. Several months ago Sierra Pines Church Worship Leader, Bill Samuelson, mentioned the home going of an "icon" in Christian music, Larry Norman. [More]

Hobble In My Soul
July 28, 2008
Sarah Misaigue

I have a room in my heart that I have kept closed. I haven't been in there for a very long time. It is stacked and stuffed with all of my junk that I don't use any more. It has no windows for air in it nor vents for circulation. I've tried to keep other parts of my heart clean in hopes that my "soul room" would not be noticed. I think maybe I was hoping that the salvation army guy would pass by and whisk it away! [More]

Where Is It?
May 6, 2008
Sarah Misaique

Today, I happened to find something that I have been looking quite a long time for! I have been looking Sooooo long for it that I was beginning to wonder if it was really real, or if I would even recognize it when it was found! [More]

God's Secret Sauce
June 14, 2007
Mike Parsons

Rendezvous 2007, a gathering on the hill, a calling to meet at a special place and time to connect with a part of our being that the busy world we live in filters out.  Camp Sugar Pine was that gathering place where on the first of June men from Sierra Pines Church, along with friends and family rendezvoused.  In these times, most men find it very hard to take time and break away from their daily routines.  Yet this year, most men had no clue that there was a spirit wooing them as if something special was about to happen. Dancing With Jesus
May 25, 2007
Sarah Misaique

While everyone's life story is unique, there are longings of the heart that seem to be universal. The desire to find true love, or the desire that someone will affirm our value, regardless of our situation, and hope that we can change. In this regard, we each need a "Cinderella" story of our own. [More]

If I Listen
May 25, 2007
Korin Leman

If I listen to the enemy

And look past their name

Would you look past me

And not listen to what I say? [More]

Know That I Am God

In the delicate sparkling wonder of a dewy spiderweb's lace, [More]

Divine Injustice
May 5, 2007
Doug Scott

“So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God.”  Genesis 45:8a (NIV

There is an old saying, “Better 100 guilty men go free than hang an innocent man.” I can’t think of an injustice greater than an innocent man being executed for a crime he didn’t commit. [More]

“He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor, his righteousness endures forever;”  Psalm 112:9 (NIV)

We were living in Redding, CA, I was thirteen, and Christmas was only a few days away. I walked down the hallway passed by dad’s home office. The door was slightly opened, and I saw my dad with his face buried in his hands. He was crying. [More]

I Heard More Than Thunder
May 5, 2007
Doug Scott

“Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm:” Job 40:6 (NIV)

It was May 21, 1981. Our daughter, Erin, was just born. She was so small, so beautiful, but so sick. We were filled with joy at her birth, but suddenly this “storm” moved into our lives. A storm filled with emotional and psychological wind, thunder, lightning, and drenching rain. [More]

Lipstick on Sunday
May 5, 2007
Doug Scott

“Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble.”  I John 2:10 (NIV)

One of my strongest memories of growing up in church is not a pleasant one. I was in the seventh grade. I can remember my mom coming home sobbing after a Sunday evening service. Dad was with her in the bedroom, but I could hear their conversation. [More]

Noise in Norco
May 5, 2007
Doug Scott

“No one could distinguish the sound of the shouts of joy from the sound of weeping, because the people made so much noise.”  Ezra 3:13a (NIV)

Before our third daughter, Jenny, was born, our house was already full of noise. Little did we know that she would more than double, no triple, the noise in our home! [More]
